Fairway heads carry smaller ports than a driver, but the placement still decides whether the club digs, skips, or glides through turf on a descending strike.

Two Surfaces, One Session

Tested From a Tee Peg and a Turf Mat

We run every fairway wood fitting from both a tee and a fairway-height mat, since sole-track weight that behaves well off a tee peg can dig or bounce differently once the club is actually contacting turf on a descending strike.

Rear-port mass gets tested first for launch and forgiveness, then we check whether a shift forward improves turf interaction without sacrificing the numbers we just found.

Where Fairway Wood Ports Usually Matter Most

A driver-only fitting rarely catches a fairway wood that's over-launching from turf because rear-port mass was set for tee shots alone.
